Write HTML and watch it render as you type. Free, no account.
This HTML playground is a code editor and a browser side by side. Type HTML on the left and the page renders on the right as you go, with its CSS applied and its JavaScript running, so you can build a page a line at a time and see every change land. Start from one of the templates, open an .html file from your computer, or add files of your own.
It is free and needs no account. Your work is saved in this browser, so it is still here the next time you visit, and nothing is sent to a server while you write.
When the page is ready for other people, Get a free link puts it online with no account, for 4 hours. A link that lasts, at an address you choose and with a say in who can open it, needs a paid plan from $2.99 a month. Already have a file and just want to look at it? The HTML viewer opens it at phone, tablet and desktop widths. More in free HTML tools.
Yes. Writing, editing and previewing pages here is free and needs no account, and there is no limit on how long you spend doing it. Your work is saved in this browser, so it is still here when you come back. Putting a page online is free too, for a while: Get a free link makes a public link with no account, and it expires on its own. A link that lasts needs a paid plan, from $2.99 a month. The button in the toolbar says which of those applies to you before you press it, so there is no surprise at the end.
Not while you write it. The preview is rendered in your browser, in a sandboxed frame, and your files are saved in this browser's own storage rather than on a server. Nothing reaches pagegoat unless you choose Get a free link or Get your link. The link button in the toolbar is different again: it packs your code into the link itself, so whoever opens it gets their own editable copy, and that copy still is not stored anywhere by us. Clear your browser's site data and a playground you never put online is gone for good, so download or publish anything you want to keep.
Yes. Put styles in a style tag and scripts in a script tag inside the HTML, and both work in the live preview as you type: buttons respond, animations run, and scripts loaded from a full web address, such as a library from a CDN, load normally. The preview shows the file that is selected on its own, so keep what the page needs inside that file, or load it by full address. That is also the shape that travels best when you get a link for it, because a single self-contained HTML document carries everything it needs with it.
The playground is for writing a page: it opens on a starter document, keeps your work between visits, and ends with putting the page online. The HTML viewer is for looking at a page you already have: it opens empty, takes a file or pasted code, shows it at phone, tablet and desktop widths, and keeps nothing once you leave. If someone sent you a file or an assistant gave you some HTML, start in the viewer. If you are building something and want to see it take shape, stay here.
